Erie County man dies after being hit by car

An Erie County man was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a car while walking on the side of Route 268 in Hovey Township, Armstrong County, state police said.

Joshua Foster, 20, of Wattsburg was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:30 p.m. crash, about six miles east of the Butler County line.

Police said Foster was walking south along the east berm of the two-lane road when a southbound 2004 Buick Regal driven by Martha Flo McKinny, 66, of Karns City hit him.

McKinny, who had passed another car at the time, was not hurt, police said. The car sustained severe damage.

The Parker City Volunteer Fire Company assisted police. Parker Fire Chief Rick Amsler said the road was closed for several hours afterward.

Police did not file charges in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Atelephone message left this morning for Armstrong County Coroner Robert Bowser was not immediately returned. No other information was available.
