State lawmaker's son gets probation for gun possession
GREENSBURG — A state lawmaker's son will spend a year on probation for illegally possessing a handgun that his 14-year-old friend later used to shoot himself.
Bobby Regola, the now 18-year-old son of Sen. Robert Regola III, was given probation this week after being found delinquent on a misdemeanor charge in November, according to two people familiar with the case.
Being found delinquent in juvenile court is the equivalent of a guilty verdict.
Sen. Regola, R-Westmoreland, is awaiting trial in May on charges that he lied under oath at a coroner's inquest into the death of Louis Farrell, the boy shot with the senator's gun.
