Rangers keep inching up standings

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Chris Drury knew it was going to take patience and a little time for the New York Rangers to develop their chemistry.

Looks as if that moment has finally arrived.

After an inconsistent first three months, the Rangers are on a roll, improving to 10-0-3 in their past 13 games following a 3-2 shootout win over the slumping Buffalo Sabres on Monday night.

Besides moving into a tie with Ottawa for fifth place in the Eastern Conference, New York is suddenly three points behind conference leader New Jersey.

"The last month and a half, we've been clicking real well, the chemistry's been there. We just keep growing," said Drury, who along with Scott Gomez, represented the Rangers' two high-priced offseason free-agent additions. "I think it did just take some time for everyone to click. Yeah, as a team, for sure, everyone's pretty confident."

Gomez did his part, scoring the decisive shootout goal to beat the Sabres, while goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 21 saves — including two in the shootout — to improve to 8-0-2 in his past 11 appearances. New York also completed a four-game season-series sweep of Buffalo, the team that eliminated the Rangers in the second round of the playoffs last year.

Jaromir Jagr and Fedor Tyutin also scored for the Rangers, who haven't lost in regulation since a 4-1 loss to Anaheim on Feb. 7.

Flames 7, Blues 3

Jarome Iginla became the Flames' career goals leader with his 365th in host Calgary's victory.

The Flames' captain one-timed a pass from Kristian Huselius off the backside of Blues defenseman Eric Brewer at 18:27 of the first period.

Canucks 2, Kings 1

In Los Angeles, Ryan Kesler scored the tying goal with 2:41 left in regulation and scored again on a tip-in 46 seconds into overtime, helping Vancouver avoid a four-game season sweep.
