Freeport, Mars, Knoch and Seneca Valley have earned PIHL hockey playoff bids.

The Planets are the No. 1 seed in Class A and have a first-round bye, as do Quaker Valley, Serra Catholic and Bishop McCort. Freeport is seeded fifth and hosts 12th-seeded Richland at 6:15 p.m. today at Belmont Arena.

Knoch is seeded 11th and will travel to face No. 6 seed Westmont at 7:30 p.m. today at the War Memorial in Johnstown.

Seneca Valley is seeded fourth in Class AAA and hosts 13th-seed Fox Chapel at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warrendale BladeRunners.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Ending nearly a four-year drought between PGA Tour victories, Ernie Els shot a 3-under 67 Sunday to win The Honda Classic. He finished at 6 under, one shot better than Luke Donald (71) and two ahead of Nathan Green (67).Els and Mark Calcavecchia were tied for the lead as the sun began setting on PGA National. But Calcavecchia hit into a greenside bunker at the par-3 15th, and his shot from the sand looked fine when it hit the green.Els earned $990,000 for his 16th career PGA Tour victory.Calcavecchia (73), Robert Allenby (70) and Matt Jones (73) tied for fourth, three shots back.

SINGAPORE — Lorena Ochoa completed a runaway victory in her first tournament of the year, closing with a 4-under 68 to leave Annika Sorenstam 11 strokes behind in the rain-slowed HSBC Women's Champions.Competing for the first time since winning the ADT Championship in November for her eighth 2007 victory, Ochoa finished at 20-under 268 on Tanah Merah's Garden Course. The top-ranked Mexican star earned $300,000 for her 18th career LPGA Tour victory.Sorenstam won the B-flight, shooting a 71 in the rainy afternoon conditions for her third straight top-four finish.

CARSON, Calif. — Israel Vazquez won his rubber match against Rafael Marquez in another exciting match featuring nonstop punching by the two skilled, hard-hitting super bantamweights.Vazquez, who was knocked down in the fourth round, rallied late to win by split decision in their third meeting.Judge Max De Luca scored it 114-111 for Vazquez, and James Jen Kin had Vazquez winning 113-112. Tom Kaczmarek gave Marquez a 114-111 edge.Referee Pat Russell took a point away from Marquez in the 10th round for hitting below the belt.
