HANOVER — Two dogs bit the tires of a mail carrier's vehicle that drove up a driveway in rural York County, stranding the mail carrier for nearly two hours.

Rural-route carrier Robin Barton said the Rottweiler and pit-bull mix barked and ran around the vehicle Thursday when she drove up the long, steep driveway in West Manheim Township. The dogs then went after the tires, flattening three of them.

Barton called police, but they kept their cruisers off the property when the dogs attacked their tires as well. An animal control officer arrived and was about to shoot tranquilizers at the dogs when owner Stephanie Dekelbaum came home.

Dekelbaum apologized. She blamed a tire toy for the attacks on the real vehicles.
