Cory Somerville scored 12 points and Rashiid Coleman added 11 points and five assists, but the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team dropped a 68-54 decision to California (Pa.) to remain in a tie for fourth place in the PSAC West standings.

SRU (7-19, 4-7) need a win over Clarion Saturday and an Indiana (Pa.) loss to Lock Haven to earn the final playoff berth, which would be The Rock's first since the 1999-2000 season.

Erroll Robinson chipped in with a team-high eight rebounds for SRU.

Julie Molloy and KellyAnn Staudinger scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, but California (Pa.) came away with a 82-58 victory over The Rock.The Vulcans (21-5, 8-3) outscored The Rock (7-19, 1-10) 53-25 in the second half to erase a four-point SRU lead at the break.
