Movie to begin filming in 'Burgh

PITTSBURGH — Four-time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore will star in a supernatural thriller that will begin shooting in the Pittsburgh area this spring.

Filming of "Shelter" is expected to begin in late March or early April, said Rudy Scalese, director of development for Nala Films. The company produced "In the Valley of Elah" and "Dan in Real Life" last year.

Scalese said "Shelter" is set in Pittsburgh, but $75 million state lawmakers approved last year for annual tax incentives for film production helped in the final decision to shoot in Western Pennsylvania and has brought other films to the area.
