HARRISBURG — A college student was convicted of making a post to his MySpace page in which he threatened to copy last year's Virginia Tech shootings.
Steven Voneida, a student at Penn State University's Harrisburg campus, was found guilty in federal court Monday of a single charge of transmitting communication containing a threat to injure.
Voneida, 24, threatened that he would someday "make the Virginia Tech incident look like a trip to an amusement park" in a posting two days after the April 2007 shootings, acting U.S. Attorney Martin Carlson said.
The posting also included a photograph of shooter Seung-Hui Cho and a poem paying tribute to Cho, who killed 32 people and himself, Carlson said Tuesday.
