SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University offensive linemen Mike Butterworth and BronClouser were named as honorable mention All-America performers by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
It was the third time Butterworth, a senior tackle, was an honorable mention all-American. He was also a national finalist for the Gene Upshaw DivisionII Lineman of the Year Award.
Clouser, a senior guard, was also named first-team all-PSAC West.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Despite not playing a game, the SlipperyRock University baseball team moved into the top 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II national poll.The Rock, which was ranked 30th in the preseason poll but dropped out last week, re-entered at No. 29.SRU is set to open the season Feb. 22 againstTiffin University in Chillicothe, Ohio.
PROSPECT — The Prospect Boys and Girls Club under-14 indoor soccer team came away with two victories in three games recently.The club ousted the Karns City coed team 10-0 and the Karns City boys team 5-3.Goals were scored by Michael Stutz, Quay Barnhart, Kyle Hinchberger, Levi Leonberg, Danielle Wissinger, Casey Dudek and Shane Fichter. Jordan Marks stopped 22 shots in goal against the KC boys.The club fell to Butler 6-1 for its lone loss.
