Carnegie museums raise $161M
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museums have raised $161 million for long-term improvements at its four locations.
The capital fundraising drive began in 2002 and exceeded its goal by $11 million.
Some of the money has already been spent to upgrade the natural history museum's dinosaur exhibit, improve art galleries, install a digital dome at the science center and add educational facilities to the main complex in the city's Oakland neighborhood.
