GROVE CITY— Grove City College will induct its second class of honorees into its Athletic Hall of Fame Feb. 16.
The inductions will be held in conjunction with the Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships and a basketball doubleheader against Waynesburg.
This year's inductees are Todd Alexander of New Castle, William "Skip"Arbuckle and Jeff Cass of Erie, Bob Crow of Grove City, Anne Kister Parker of Hanover, Jim McElhaney of Butler, Chris Van de Mark of Lockport, N.Y., soccer, basketball and tennis coach Cliff Wettig and Carla Wetzel Patarini of Saxonburg.
A reception begins at 5 p.m., dinner at 6. Tickets are $25 and are available through Friday. Call 724-458-2900 for details.
SLIPPERYROCK— The Slippery Rock University women's indoor track and field team is ranked eighth in the nation by NCAA Division IIcoaches.The Rock is ranked second in the East Region to Shippensburg, which is No. 5 nationally. SRU is the defending PSAC champion in indoor and outdoor track and has won the outdoor title four of the past five seasons.
Butler Road Race Inc. has announced that proceeds from last year's race amounted to $14,500.The 17-member board will review applications for academic scholarships from graduating cross country runners attending one of the nine high schools in Butler County.In the past 14 years, the Butler Road Race has provided 438 scholarships amounting to $234,850. Applications are available through high school coaches.The 33rd annual Butler Road Race will be held June 28.
