Whale of a project
At right is a pattern, printed to size, used by Paula Brewer to make small stuffed whales. The small animals are known as kawaii, a Japanese word to describe cute items.
To create a whale, cut two each of the whale body and fin shapes and one of the whale belly shape.
To assemble, sew together the top sides of the whale body shapes. The belly should be attached with the widest part attached to the front of the whale and the narrow end toward the tail.
A fin can be attached to each side of the whale along the straight side of the fin. Eyes and other decorative additions can be added later.
