Wilbert M. "Cubby" Nulph, 68, of Templeton died early Monday morning at the Oakland Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pittsburgh.

Born in Summit Township, April 30, 1939, he was a son of the late Wilbert H. Nulph and Betty Jean Jenkins Nulph Rodgers.

He was a retired certified government welder, having been employed for more than 25 years by the Dowty Rotell Mining Longwall Co., formerly in Cranberry Township. He had been a member and past officer of the United Mineworkers Union Pittsburgh Local.

Mr. Nulph was a past president of the Penn Glade Lions Club. He was an antique and pottery collector and belonged to the Puriton Pottery Club. He also was an avid outdoor sportsman with memberships in the Wild Turkey Federation, the Slippery Rock Ruffed Grouse Society and Trout Unlimited.

He was most known for building stock car engines, having raced at the local dirt tracks for years as member of the No. 69 car team and had been an original member of a racing club, Auto Racing Inc.

He was a Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Veronica M. Desmond Nulph, co-owner of Picture Perfect Custom Framing store. They were married April 23, 1965, at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

He also is survived by a son and daughter, Brent A. Nulph and Cathy A. Nulph (Mrs. John Silvasy), both of Templeton; a brother, David Rodgers of Butler; four sisters, Nancy Reilly (Mrs. Dennis) of Connoquenessing, Kathy Hamilton (Randy) of Des Moines, Iowa, Cherilayne "Cookie" Miller (Thomas) of Herman and Gloria Rodgers of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rodgers.

<B>NULPH </B>— Friends of Wilbert M. "Cubby" Nulph, who died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Timothy Bupp, pastor of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, will officiate.
