Ruth E. Beatty

Ruth Elizabeth Beatty, 83, of Butler died at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 13, 1924, in Brook-ville, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Sheldon G. and Virda Fiscus Mentzer.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the Erie Register in Erie.

Mrs. Beatty was a member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, the AARP and the 60+ Bowling leagues. In addition to bowling, she enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Surviving are a son, and his wife, Gary and Ruth Beatty of Marion, Ohio; five daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Joe (Deborah) Hoke of Butler, Mrs. Dave (Sharon) Moore of Chicora, Mrs. Albert (Linda) Nolte and Mrs. Kevin (Vivian) Warheit, both of Butler, and Brenda McGuire of Pennsylvania; 19 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. A brother, Kenneth Mentzer of Philadelphia, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Her husband, William G. Beatty, whom she married Nov. 23, 1945, died Sept. 24, 2000. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Leona McAdoo.

<B>BEATTY </B>— Friends of Ruth Elizabeth Beatty, who died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will at 11 a.m. Friday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church with the Rev. Richard Jenks officiating.
