Playing in the Class A game at 1 p.m. are forward John Reichenbaugh, defenseman Jeremy Herpler and goaltender Tim Zahumensky of Freeport; forwards Ian Finney, Mike Heltman and Jake Robash, defenseman Sean Roach and goaltender Greg Lewis of Mars; and defensemen Shane Donnelly and R.J. Hughes (alternate) of Knoch.

Playing in the Class AAAgame at 5 p.m. are forward Matt Jarrett and defenseman Joe Sasala of Seneca Valley, and defenseman Mavrik Goepfert (alternate) of Butler.

KARNS CITY — Karns City senior running back-linebacker Brett Green was nominated as an Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year.High school coaches across the country can nominate one player from their team for this award. The program honors athletes who are able to elevate their play when the heat is really on.

BUTLER TWP — The Butler Elks Hoop Shoot Contest was completed recently, with winners advancing to the district contest Feb. 2 at Mars High School.Winning the Butler Elks Hoop Shoot were Dan Hutchinson and Alyssa Eyth in the 8-and-9 age group, Justice Lewandowski and Haley Michael in the 10-and-11 group, and Lucas Wesolek and Natalie Barkus in the 12-and-13 group.

SLIPPERY ROCK— Slippery Rock University senior offensive linemen Mike Butterworth and Bron Clouser were named first team NCAADivision II All-Northeast Region by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.SRUrunning back Corey Manfull and wide receiver-return specialist Paul Favers earned second-team honors. PRETORIA, South Africa — Double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius is intent on becoming the first disabled runner to compete in the Olympics. And if track and field's governing body blocks his way, he insists his fight will not end.The International Association of Athletics Federations ruled Friday that his futuristic prosthetic racing blades give him an unfair edge. Pistorius said he will appeal any ban on him competing against able-bodied athletes. He is prepared to take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

MELBOURNE, Australia — Andy Roddick started and finished with aces in a 7-5, 6-3 win over Marcos Baghdatis to claim his third consecutive Kooyong Classic title Saturday.Roddick beat Tommy Haas in 2006 and top-ranked Roger Federer in last year's final of the exhibition event.Federer avenged that loss 13 days later at the Australian Open, beating Roddick in the semifinals en route to the title.Roddick and Michael Chang (1995-97) are the only players to win three straight titles at the Australian Open tuneup event.

SYDNEY, Australia — Justine Henin won her 28th match in a row Saturday, beating Svetlana Kuznetsova 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the Sydney International final after falling behind 3-0 in the deciding set.Henin lost her service without taking a point in the second game of the third set, but Kuznetsova did the same two games later to allow the Belgian player to pull back on serve at 3-3.Henin broke Kuznetsova's serve at 4-4 in the third set, then held serve and won on her first match point.
