Gertrude A. Flick
Gertrude A. Flick, 84, of Erie died Wednesday at the Erie Soldiers' and Sailors' Home.
Born in Curtisville, Alle-gheny County, March 1, 1923, she was the daughter of George A. and Agnes M. Brennen Metzler.
She graduated from Etna High School and graduated summa cum laude from Indiana (Pa.) University in the nursing program.
During World War II, she was a second lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps, 249th General Hospital Unit and served in Philippines during the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign.
After the war, she worked at various hospitals and veterans hospitals throughout the United States. She was a school nurse in the Hempfield School District and served in the nursing field for more than 49 years.
She was a member of the Elmwood Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Kenneth L. Flick; two sons, Walter Flick and his wife, Kathy, of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Kenneth Flick and his wife, Tracy, of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Dr. Kathryn Flick and her husband, Dr. John Bauman, of Erie and Karen Ogrinc and her husband, Patrick, of Hibbing, Minn.; four grandchildren, Abby and Calb Flick and Kristie and Kaitlynn Bauman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Metzler, and a sister, Clara Troup.

Flick, who died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Brugger Home for Funerals</B>, 1595 W. 38th St. at Greengarden Boulevard, Erie.
