Betty Jane Thompson, 86, of Butler died early Monday morning at New-haven Court, Center Township.

Born in Butler, Jan. 6, 1921, she was the only daughter of John and Ethel Thompson Reiber.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker. She was a graduate of a Pittsburgh beauty school and had operated her own beauty shop in Butler for several years during the 1940s.

She was a member of the Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church.

She was an avid and accomplished bridge player, a member and life master of the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club and had played in many bridge tournaments with it.

She was the widow of Carl Thompson, who died Jan. 11, 1989.

Surviving are two daughters, Carla (Mrs. Jerry) Swidzinski and Cheryl (Mrs. Edward) Spinneweber, both of Butler; three grandchildren, Connie Swidzinski, and Carl Spinneweber and his wife, Katrina, all of Butler, and Michelle Spinneweber of St. Augustine, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Tack and Kenneth Spinneweber.

<B>THOMPSON </B>— Friends of Betty Jane Thompson, who died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy Bupp, her church pastor, officiating.
