Clinton McConnell
Clinton Louis McConnell, 93, of Connoquenessing Township died Friday morning at his home.
Born Oct. 5, 1914, in Mars, he was the son of John L. and Mattie E. Whiskeman McConnell.
In 1939, he joined the Floor Covers Union. He then left for military service. After returning, he joined Carpenters Union Local 500, now Local 922, on May 7, 1948, where he worked until his retirement.
He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, two Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member at the Mars VFW.
His favorite hobby was woodworking. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He traveled through 48 states and Europe, and in the past year, he traveled out west and to Canada to fish with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Stanley L. McConnell and his wife, Lynn, of Colbert, Wash., Sherwin J. McConnell and his wife, Fran, of Connoquenessing; and a daughter, Sarah E. "Sally" Pfabe and her husband, James C., of Renfrew.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Jesse Clinton McConnell and his children, Amelia and Cruz, of Omaha, Neb.; Matthew J. McConnell and his children, Josiah and Lucxx of Jeonju, Korea; Clinton N. McConnell of Connoquenessing; Lastene Yarrington and her children, Taylor, Dylann and Nolan, of Connoquenessing; James S. Pfabe and his children, Morgan and Noel, of Renfrew; and Mykael Pfabe and his children, Kyle and Dawson, of Chicora.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Kroll McConnell, who died Dec. 10, 1995; a brother, and a sister.
