JOINING FORCES

In December of 1965, Butler Township Police added three female school crossing guards to the force. Chief Charles Miller said the women would have the authority to "stop traffic and stop violators," but not the power to prosecute. From left, receiving their badges, are Mrs. J. L. Brewster, Mrs. Andrew C. Gavula and Mrs. Louis D. Roccki. At right is Chief Miller. The women were assigned to Northwest Elementary School, Homeacre and Lyndora.
