Bullman

Merle K. Bullman, 85, of Great Belt in Jefferson Township, died at 3 a.m. Monday at the Sunnyview Home.

Born in North Washington, April 19, 1922, he was a son of Andrew and Alice Morrow Bullman.

He as a member of the Freeport Road Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he served as treasurer for many years.

During World War II, he served as a signalman in the Army 416th Signal Co., Aviation, in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with three bronze stars. He served in the campaigns of Tunisia, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arne.

He had worked in the stainless processing department at Armco-Butler Works and retired in 1987 after 23 years.

Mr. Bullman was an avid hunter and loved to shoot and reload ammunition.

Surviving are eight children, Kenneth Ross Bullman and his wife, Patricia, of Palmer, Alaska, Merlene B. Bullman of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Aleta Lynn Bullman at home, Candace A. Petri and her husband, Douglas, of Gillette, Wyo., Kevin Wayne Bullman and his wife, Lynn, of Butler, Erin C. Bullman of Kalispell, Mont., Jesse B. Bullman and his wife, Sherry C., of Cabot and Julie Ray Daugherty of Butler; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by a brother, Ernest "Short" Bullman of Sugarcreek Rest in Worthington; a sister, Mrs. Eunice Ealy of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He married Edmona Trivett on May 19, 1947, in Bishop, Va. She died Dec. 12, 1998. He also was preceded in death by two sons; two daughters; a grandchild; three brothers, Harold, Clarence and Forrest Bullman; and a sister, Mrs. Charlotte Mahood.

<B>BULLMAN</B> — Friends of Merle K. Bullman, who died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Freeport Road Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Kissler, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial contributions may be made to the Freeport Road Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, the Christian Appalachian Project, the Cancer Research Institute or veterans charities.
