J. Marie Dickey
J. Marie Dickey, 84, of New Castle Road, Slippery Rock Township, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday at her home after a short illness.
Born in Brady Township, July 30, 1923, she was the daughter of Orrin Clarence McCurdy and Florence Jennie Martsolf.
She retired from the Slippery Rock School District as a cafeteria worker.
Mrs. Dickey was a member of the Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church and the Workers Class of the church. She also belonged to the Slippery Rock Grange and enjoyed bowling, crafts, sewing and being with her family.
Surviving are her husband, John Charles "Chuck" Dickey, whom she married April 14, 1945, in a Waco cabin plane flying over the family farm in Slippery Rock Township; two daughters, Ruth Keith and her husband, James, of Harmony and Evelyn Vargo of New Castle; and six sons, James, Fred and his wife, Connie, Dennis, David, Mark and his wife, Debbie, and Robert "Mouse" Dickey and his wife, Beth, all of Slippery Rock.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Frank Keith of Harmony, Maryann Keith of Reston, Va., Jerome Metheney of Grove City, and Kristen and her husband, Mike Dudich, and Daniel, Katie, Dakota and Derek Dickey, all of Slippery Rock; five great-grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Dudich of Slippery Rock and Noah, Hannah and Peyton Metheney of Grove City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, John W. Dickey; a sister, Mildred Commons; and two brothers, Arthur and Carl McCurdy.
<B>DICKEY </B>— Friends of J. Marie Dickey, who died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Mark Frailey, certified lay pastor of the Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
