Darlien 'Doll' Margaret Durso
Darlien "Doll" Margaret Durso, 77, of Prospect lost her courageous battle with colon cancer early Saturday morning at her home.
Born Jan. 25, 1930, in Glenshaw, she was a daughter of Joseph Mathews and Marie Biernesser Mathews.
She was a housewife and a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church in Prospect.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-laws; Vincent and Karen Durso of Greensburg, Nicholas and Ruthane Durso and Joseph and Jamie Durso, all of Slippery Rock, Timothy and Lori Durso of Prospect, and Frank and Linda Durso of New Castle; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Stuart Thompson of Evans City; 11 grandchildren, Anthony Joseph "AJ" and Matthew Durso, Clint, Conner and Spencer Thompson, Michael Durso, Krystan and Ron Reeg, and Jacob, Noah and Daniel Durso; two sisters, Florine Burr of Evans City, and Marie Cassel of California; two brothers, William Mathews and his wife, Nancy, and Ronald Mathews and his wife, Linda, all of Valencia; two stepsisters, Doris Scott of Mars and Shirley Trapp of Valencia; and a stepbrother, Donald Brooks, of Valencia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent M. Durso, who she married July 6, 1957, and who died Sept. 3, 2002; a son, John Durso; her parents and stepmother, Jane Mathews; a granddaughter, Amanda Durso; a brother, Joseph Mathews, and a sister, Mildred Campbell.
<B>Durso</B> — Friends of Darlien "Doll" Margaret Durso, who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>JAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME INC</B>., 443 Main St., Prospect. The rosary will be recited from 8:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Christopher at the Lake Church in Prospect with the Rev. Matthew Tosello officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Church Cemetery in Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher at the Lake Church in Prospect.
