Angert

John D. Angert, 77, of Butler, died Friday at his residence.

Born in Butler on Dec. 20, 1929, he was the son of Victor and Ruby Ritter Angert Grossman.

He was employed at the Butler Area Sewer Authority for 26 years, retiring in 1991.

He was also a former co-owner of Kraus Bakery on West Jefferson Street, Butler.

He attended Saint Mark's Lutheran Church.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the Army.

He was a member of American Legion Post 117 of Butler; the French and Belgium Club; the Italian Society of Butler; and the Elks Lodge of Butler.

He is survived by his companion, Carol "Sis" Stepp, of Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Brian (Joy) Dickey of Butler Mrs. Rick (Joni) Houk of Butler; three brothers, including his twin brother, Paul D. Angert and his wife, Leona, of Butler, Victor C. Angert and his wife, Peggy, of Melrose, Fla., and Robert L. Angert of Butler; five grandchildren, Mrs. James (Rachelle) Foster of Cowansville, Ricky H. Houk II of Butler, Chad W. Houk of Butler and Matthew J. and James J. Dickey, both of Butler; a great-grandson, Tyler Foster, of Cowansville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Lorraine Herrit Angert, who died in 1994; and three sisters, Veda Regis, Helen Keagle and Doris Mae Angert.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman, pastor of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church, officiating.
