Rock women take down UPJ, 59-52

SLIPPERY ROCK — Nikki Presto scored 15 points and had a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team to a 59-52 victory over Pitt-Johnstown Friday.

Presto added a team-high four assists and three steals for The Rock (4-3), who ended a two-game losing streak and avenged a season-opening 61-57 loss to UPJ.

Amanda Nero added 15 points and three assists, Grove City High graduate Julie Molloy added 11 points and three steals, and KellyAnn Staudinger recorded nine rebounds.

Kristin Irwin led UPJ with 21 points, 17 of which came in the first half, when she connected on five 3-pointers.

SRU trailed 48-40 with 9:15 remaining, but pulled off an 11-0 run to take the lead for good.
