Dean E. Moyer, 92, formerly of Evans City, died Sunday at the St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born Jan. 12, 1915, in Harmony, he was the son of J. Frank and Violet Morgan Moyer.

He graduated from the Evans City High School in 1932 and from Robert Morris Business College in 1949.

During World War II, he was a master sergeant in the Army Air Corps, served with the Second Air Division in Norwich, England, and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service on D-Day.

He was a member of the Second Air Division Association and served as treasurer for more than 25 years. The association is dedicated to preserving the memory of those lost during the war and supporting the Memorial Room at the Norwich Library in Norwich, England.

Mr. Moyer was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50-year member of the Harmony Lodge 429 F&AM. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory of New Castle and the Syria Shrine Temple of Cheswick. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 219 of Evans City and a founding member of the Evans City VFW Post 499.

He was a former member of the Evans City Rotary and had served as president and treasurer of the Evans City Borough Council and president of the Evans City Zoning Board.

A lifelong resident of Western Pennsylvania, he lived in Evans City for more than 55 years and owned Moyer's Custom Kitchens in Butler from 1961 until it closed in 1991.

He was an avid bowler and had bowled a perfect 300 game and 700 series. He participated in and sponsored several bowling leagues in Butler, Evans City, Mars and Zelienople. He also enjoyed horseshoe pitching and was a member of the Butler County Horseshoe League Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Olivdene "Deanie" Dambach Moyer; a son, Robert Moyer and his wife, Pam, of Butler; two daughters, Barbara Coverdale and her husband, Harold, of Chesapeake, Va., and Maxine Zimmer and her husband, Gary, of Cranberry Township; six grandchildren, Brian Moyer, Jason Moyer and his wife, Paula, Heather Queen and her husband, Christopher, Brett Coverdale, Stacie Wilkins and her husband, Saeed, and Amy Coverdale; and four great-grandchildren Dylan, Corey and Jayme Moyer and Joshua Queen.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver and Robert L. Moyer; and two sisters, Lola Beitler and Martha Marburger.

<B>MOYER</B> — Friends of Dean E. Moyer, who died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 116 E. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
