Edward William Schoentag Sr., 76, of Saxonburg died Saturday at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 31, 1931, in Saxonburg, he was the son of Clarence and Pearl Reimer Schoentag.

He had worked as an oiler at Penn-Dixie Cement, which later became Armstrong Cement, and retired in 1995 after 43 years.

Mr. Schoentag was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association and the Sunset Riders. He loved hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Ella Mae McCandless Schoentag, whom he married Oct. 30, 1960; a son, Edward W. Schoentag Jr. of Butler; two daughters, Brenda Lea (Terry) Deal of Karns City and Bev Fulton of Butler; a sister, Edna Bopp of Saxonburg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Daniel Shilling and his wife, Betty; and a sister, Betty Jane Hoak.
