Ferguson

Richard Dale Ferguson, 62, of Chicora Road died Friday at his home after a long illness.

Born Sept. 16, 1945, in Morristown, N.J., he was the son of Dale G. and Anna Willoughby Ferguson.

He was a 1964 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Ferguson was an inspector at Mine Safety Appliance Co. in Cranberry Township for 32 years until his health forced him to retire in 2006.

He greatly enjoyed working on automobiles and was an organic gardener.

His wife, Brenda Willetts Scherder Ferguson, whom he married Sept. 26, 2004, survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Karrie A. Ferguson of Butler; two stepsons, Elmer C. Scherder of Parker and Thomas M. Scherder of East Butler; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Gary (Wanda) Mortimer, Mrs. James (Christine) Lorenz and Beth S. Van Horn, all of Herman; his parents of Renfrew; a sister, Mrs. John (Diane) Marano of Butler; nine grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His first wife, Ruth Ringer Van Horn Ferguson, died March 13, 1994.

<B>FERGUSON</B> — Friends of Richard Dale Ferguson, who died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. A. James Lewis, pastor of the West Liberty United Methodist Church in Slippery Rock, officiating.
