Dinosaurs fuel museum record for attendance

PITTSBURGH — Officials at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh say a new dinosaur exhibit fueled a Thanksgiving weekend attendance record.

Nearly 13,000 people went to the museum the three days after Thanksgiving, breaking the museum's old attendance record for the same weekend set in 1999. The museum had about 8,300 visitors during the three-day period that year.

Officials say the new Dinosaurs in Their Time exhibit is responsible for the increase.

The first phase of the $36 million exhibit opened on Nov. 21. The rest of the display will open in the spring.
