Eleanor Ruth Dyke was born in Callery on March 21, 1920, and died Oct. 12, 2007.

She was the youngest of three children born to Hans W. and Bertha G. Williams Dyke.

Miss Dyke became a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Butler on March 20, 1932.

She graduated from Butler High School on Jan. 20, 1938. Following business school, Miss Dyke was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs on Dec. 21, 1942. She retired Feb. 28, 1979, after 35 years of service in the accounting section at the VA Medical Center Hospital in Butler.

Like her sister, Mary Esther Galer, who died May 22, 2007, at the age of 98 in Katy, Texas, Miss Dyke was a proud member of the Daughters of The American Revolution since Oct. 15, 1953.

Miss Dyke moved to Lakeland, Fla., in 1984 and enjoyed her retirement years living in her home at Angler's Cove. She recently relocated to the Colonial Oaks Assisted Living Center in Katy, Texas, to be near her nephew, David A. Galer Sr., and his family.

Through the years, Miss Dyke kept in touch with all of her nieces and nephews and their families remembering each one on special occasions and holidays.

She is survived by her nephews, Paul H. Galer of Oregon, David A. Galer Sr. of Texas, Larry Dyke of Colorado, and Bruce Dyke of Florida; and her niece, Sandra Dyke of Pennsylvania.

Miss Dyke was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her brother, Hans Dyke.

<B>DYKE</B> — Miss Dyke's remains were cremated, and her ashes will be spread on the graves of her parents at the East Unity Cemetery in Emlenton. The cemetery is on the grounds of the East Unity Presbyterian Church.A memorial service for Eleanor Ruth Dyke, who died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, was Monday at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living Center in Katy, Texas. The Rev. Dr. Belinda Windham, pastor of New Hope Presbyterian Church, officiated.
