Anne Bitner Elwood
Anne Bitner Elwood, 63, died Oct. 4 at her home in Alexandria, Va.
Born June 10, 1944, in Butler, Mrs. Elwood was the daughter of Melville S. and Wilma J. Bitner of Butler and graduated from Butler High School in 1962 prior to attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
Mrs. Elwood also had a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and she was an ardent traveler and avid reader.
She had been active in community affairs following her retirement from several careers including teaching, being a stock broker, accounting and being in restaurant management.
Mrs. Elwood was a member of the Junior League of Washington, D.C., past president of the TWIG Auxiliary of INOVA Alexandria Hospital, past president of the Mount Vernon Republican Women's Club, past president of the Belle Haven Women's Club and past treasurer of the Alexandria Historical Society.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Alexandria, and an auxiliary member of Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church, Naples, Fla.
She is survived by her husband, William E. Elwood, of Alexandria, Va., and of Naples, Fla., and a 1961 graduate of Butler High School and the son of Glenn E. and Evelyn M. Elwood of Butler.
Mrs. Elwood is also survived by a son, W. Edward Elwood Jr.; a daughter, Stacy Anne Elwood, and two grandchildren, all of Atlanta, Ga.
<B>ELWOOD</B> — Interment for Anne Bitner Elwood, who died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, will be Nov. 2 at the Arlington National Cemetery preceded by a memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Va.
