ERIE— Slippery Rock University's men's basketball team posted its first win of the season Saturday night, defeating Roberts Wesleyan (NY), 84-79, in the consolation game of the Gary Miller Classic hosted by Gannon University.

Darnell Johnson scored 256 points for The Rock (1-2) while Jamar Scales added 19 points and six rebounds. Ken Ottrix contributed 13 points and two blocked shots and Joseph Vines had 10 points and six rebounds.

SRUshot 58.5 percent from the floor (31 of 53) and sank six 3-pointers in 10 attempts.

Mark Saladzius led Wesleyan (1-3) with 28 points and seven rebounds.
