Riley W. "Pat" Whittenberger III, 59, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Middlesex Township, died Thursday afternoon at his home.

Born in Pittsburgh, March 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Riley W. and Agnes Frazier Whittenberger Jr.

He was a self-employed restaurant maintenance technician and was the former owner of Weld-Bilt Trailers in Cooperstown.

Mr. Whittenberger served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Szarnicki Whittenberger, whom he married March 25, 1987; three sons, Riley Whittenberger IV and his wife, Irene, of Carlisle, Bryan Whittenberger and his wife, Nicole, of Lodi, Ohio, and J.T. Chovanes and his wife, Gretchen, of Butler; a daughter, Lori Carnley and her husband, Raun, of South Jordan, Utah; and his grandchildren, Asia and Patrick Whittenberger, Amy, Brittany and Chelsey Oglesby, Dakota and Emma Whittenberger and Emily Carnley.

He also is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Leslie (Deborah) Isles of Valencia, Mrs. John (Karen) Osche of Saxonburg and Mrs. Don (Terry) Lutz of Cranberry Township; and three brothers, William Whittenberger of Valencia, Keith Whittenberger of Portersville and Gregg Whittenberger of Meridian.

He was preceded in death by twin sons, Robert and Jarrett Whittenberger; and by a sister, Candace Blakley.

"Pat" Whittenberger III, who died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.
