Help hurt vet, win Steelers signed football

When Butler County residents donate to help a wounded Iraqi war veteran, they will get a chance to receive a football autographed by a number of Pittsburgh Steelers.

Through Saturday, a table will be outside the Butler Eagle offices for people to donate to help Pfc. Danny Maguire, 21, of Butler Township, who was seriously injured Oct. 21 by an explosion while serving in Iraq. He has a broken femur and a brain injury.

He is recovering in a veterans hospital in Richmond, Va.

All the money collected from this effort, which is sponsored by the Butler Eagle, will go to the Maguire family.

When making a donation, people can sign up for a chance to win the autographed football.

The Eagle has another Steelers autographed football that will be sent to Maguire in Richmond.

Separate donations also can be made by sending a check to the Children and Youth Service Advisory Board in care of Danny Maguire, Children and Youth Services, P.O. Box 1208, Butler, PA 16003.

His mother, Heidi Morris, works at CYS.
