Howard E. Quinn, 86, of Callery died Wednesday at UPMC Passavant hospital, McCandless Township.

Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Shaft, Md., he was the son of Benjamin and Barbara Knapp Quinn.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 219 in Evans City.

He belonged to St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church in Evans City, where he was an usher. He was a lifetime member of the Callery Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Quinn retired in 1971 from Resolite as a trim saw operator.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn "Kate" Bowers Quinn, whom he married May 29, 1941; four daughters, Ruth Shaner and her husband, James, of Callery, Kathy Henry and her husband, Reece, of Cranberry Township, Agnes Burr and her husband, Randy, of Sligo and Mary Kuhn of Callery; two sons, Bill Quinn and his wife, Patty, of Butler and Howard Quinn Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Evans City; 10 grandchildren, James Shaner and his wife, Jen, Jeremy Quinn and his wife, April, Mike Henry and his wife, Cheryl, Lisa Henry, Allie Dalton and her husband, Jon, Rachel Smith and her husband, Christopher, Adam Quinn, Randy Burr III and Mike and Matt Burr; and eight great-grandchildren, Mike and Kayla Henry, Jessicah and Jon-Michael Dalton, Gavin and Aurora Smith and Jade and Megan Burr. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Quinn; five sisters, and three brothers.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church, 417 E. Main St., Evans City.
