STATE COLLEGE — Danny Morrissey scored 17 points and Tailor Battle and Mike Walker each added 14 as Penn State beat Division II Slippery Rock 94-57 in a men's basketball exhibition game Wednesday night.

Schyler King scored 11 points for Penn State, which started the game with a 13-0 run after three straight 3-pointers by Geary Claxton, Morrissey — who was 5-for-6 from 3-point range — and Walker.

Slippery Rock pulled to within 16-12, but Battle stole the ball from Darnell Johnston at half-court — one of his five steals for the game — and threw down a two-handed dunk during a breakaway. That sparked a 17-2 run by the Nittany Lions, who led 40-24 at the half.

Jamar Scales had 16 points for Slippery Rock while Darnell Johnston and Erroll Robinson each added 10.

GIBSONIA— Treesdale Golf &Country Club has retained its designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through the cooperative sanctuary program for golf courses.Larry Napora, Treesdale's director of Greens and Grounds, led the effort to maintain sanctuary status on this course and is being recognized for Environmental Stewardship by Audubon International.Treesdale is one of 642 courses in the world to receive the Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary honor.

ORLANDO, Fla.— The Philadelphia Phillies became the first team to make a big move at the general managers' meetings Wednesday, acquiring closer Brad Lidge from Houston along with infielder Eric Bruntlett. The Astros received speedy outfielder Michael Bourn, right-hander Geoff Geary and minor league third baseman Mike Costanzo.The 30-year-old Lidge was 5-3 with 19 saves in 27 chances for the Astros last year after converting 32 of 38 opportunities in 2006. He lost his closer's job to Dan Wheeler one week into the 2007 season but regained the role in mid-June.Philadelphia intends to move Brett Myers, who had been the Phillies' closer, back into the starting rotation.
