Charter airline begins expansion
PITTSBURGH — Voyager Jet Center, a charter flight operator, has begun a $1.2 million expansion project at Allegheny County Airport.
The West Mifflin-based company held a groundbreaking ceremony today to announce the construction of a paved area that will connect to a taxiway and the redevelopment of a fueling station.
The county is contributing $250,000 and the state is contributing $350,000 to the project, part of a larger expansion effort that is expected to cost about $20 million.
Voyager has in recent years spent $6 million to $7 million on a new airport ramp, a water-retention storage system, an access road and a customer service building and hangar renovations.
