Rock women top Scots

SLIPPERY ROCK— Freshman forward Alison Hindley scored both goals as the Slippery Rock University women's soccer team defeated Edinboro 2-0 in the PSACsemifinals Friday at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

The Rock (16-3-1) set a school record for single-season wins, snapping the previous mark of 15 set by the 2005 state championship team.

No. 23 SRUwill face No. 19 West Chester, a 3-0 winner over East Stroudsburg, in the PSACtitle game at 1 p.m. Sunday in West Chester.

Friday's win almost assures SRUof a second straight trip to the NCAADivision IIplayoffs. The Rock is ranked second in the latest Northeast Regional poll. The top six ranked teams advance to the national playoffs.

The winner of Sunday's PSACtitle game earns an automatic berth.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren McManus recorded 10 saves Friday for her sixth shutout of the season. SRUhas won all 12 of its home games this year.

Italy Levy and Joe Vines scored 13 points each Friday as SRUdropped a 75-68 exhibition game at St. Bonaventure. Erroll Robinson added 11 points.Butler graduate Jade Burka contributed nine points and nine rebounds for The Rock.
