Expert testifies about shooting
PITTSBURGH — A forensics pathologist testified that a state trooper was shot once in the chest while standing, then was kneeling with his hands in the air when he was shot in the neck.
Prosecutors say 32-year-old Leslie Mollett, of Pittsburgh, shot Cpl. Joseph Pokorny in December 2005 after a traffic stop just outside the city.
After testimony by Dr. Vincent DiMaio, a former chief medical examiner in Bexar County, Texas, and the prosecution rested, Mollett told the judge that he wouldn't testify or call character witnesses.
His attorney says he plans to call a forensic expert today.
Mollett could face the death penalty if convicted.
