Pumpkin fest set at Conneaut park

CONNEAUT LAKE — The financially strapped Conneaut Lake Park will briefly reopen this weekend to host the annual Fall Pumpkin Fest.

The 115-year-old park was forced to shutdown this year due to financial difficulties. Even though it will host the fall festival, visitors will not be able to use Conneaut Lake's amusement park rides.

Festival organizers have arranged for other rides that will be brought in for the three-day festival being held about 100 miles north of Pittsburgh. In addition, the festival will feature pumpkin carving and painting, a pageant and a strolling monkey act.
