LOUIS — Walt Jocketty is out after 13 seasons as general manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, one year after the team won the World Series for the first time since 1982.Team president Mark Lamping said Wednesday Jocketty's departure with a year remaining on his contract was a mutual decision, and that he'd be paid. Team CEO Bill DeWitt Jr. said Jocketty and the Cardinals had "cordially and respectfully parted ways."
LOS ANGELES — UCLA coach Ben Howland, who has guided the Bruins to consecutive Final Four appearances, has agreed to a new seven-year contract.The deal guarantees compensation of $1.5 million for the upcoming season and increases to $2 million for the final year.
