Sled death earns man 2-6 years

PITTSBURGH — A Turtle Creek man will spend 2 to 6 years in prison for leaving the scene of an accident in which a sledder was killed and her friend was critically injured.

An Allegheny County jury acquitted 54-year-old Thomas "Skeeter" Moore in July of homicide by vehicle. Police say Moore's pickup ran over 10-year-old Shawna Linsenbigler when her sled slid into a snowy street in December 2005.

But the jury found only that prosecutors proved Moore left the scene of the accident, not that he recklessly caused the girl's death.

Brittany Raymond, now 13 years old, was critically injured.

Moore was sentenced Monday. He has denied involvement in the crash.
