Raymond Pfeifer

Raymond E. Pfeifer, 82, of South Trail died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday in the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born Oct. 31, 1924, in Mount Oliver, he was the son of Edward George and Hilda Watt Pfeifer.

Mr. Pfeifer was a millwright for the U.S. Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg until his retirement in June 1984.

He was a member of the Nixon United Methodist Church.

Mr. Pfeifer was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American EX-POW Pittsburgh Chapter, VFW Post 249, the Disabled American Veterans Butler Chapter and the National Chapter of the American Legion.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Wilma Painter Pfeifer, whom he married Aug. 11, 1945; two sons and their wives, Raymond E. and Arlene Pfeifer Jr. of Mars and Lance E. and Leslie Pfeifer of Butler; three daughters, Sandra Mickey and her husband, James, and Lisa J. and Lori J. Pfeifer, all of Butler; four granddaughters, Stacey and her husband, David George, of Butler, Shannon and her husband, Greg Czzowitz, of Fairfax, Va., and Chelsea and Hannah Pfeifer, both of Butler; two great-grandsons, Dade Ryan and James David George both of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Abrother, Donald Edward Pfeifer, preceded him in death.

<B>Pfeifer </B>— Friends of Raymond E. Pfeifer, who died Tuesday, Aug 27, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Merritt, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.Members of VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 778 will conduct graveside military services.Contributions may be made to Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, Butler, PA 16002.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
