William Joseph Linthurst Jr., 74, of Sunbury Fields Lane died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 6, 1933, in Philadelphia, he was the son of William J. Linthurst Sr. and Edith Helen Mulloy.

He was a 1955 graduate of Villanova University and retired as a sales representative for the Merck Pharmaceutical Co. in 1994.

Mrs. Linthurst served as a Eucharistic minister at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Fenelton.

He was a Marine Corps veteran and a charter member of the Marine Corps League, where he served in different capacities. He also belonged to the Bantam Marine Corps League Detachment 743 of Butler and the Military Order of Devil Dogs 213 and was involved with Toys for Tots.

Surviving are wife, Vera Helena Mathues Linthurst; a son, William J. Linthurst III; and two daughters, Pamela Ann and Dolores Marie Linthurst, all of Butler.

<B>LINTHURST</B> — There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for William Joseph Linthurst Jr., who died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 7 at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Fenelton, with the Rev.
