Shirley Jean Fassinger
Shirley Jean Fassinger, 68, of Evans City died Tuesday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Born April 9, 1939, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of Harold and Stella Kniess Mathews.
She was an active member of the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church where she was the secretary-treasurer for years. At the church she was also a Sunday school teacher and she belonged to Ladies' Aid, Willing Workers and Pleasant View Extension.
Mrs. Fassinger was a volunteer driver for the Connoquenessing Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Darrell Fassinger, whom she married July 31, 1959.
She is also survived by her father of Evans City; and three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Carol Fassinger of Evans City, Darrell and Tanya Fassinger of Harmony, and Danny and Jennifer Fassinger of Evans City. She is survived by six grandchildren, Megan, Heather, Austin, Ryan, Dillon and Noah, and by a brother; Donald Mathews of California.
