Duster

Joyce M. Phillips Duster, 63, of 954 Oakwood Place, Natrona Heights, died Friday at her home with her family by her side after a two-year battle with cancer.

Born July 29, 1944, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Mary March Phillips of Harrison Township and the late John Phillips.

She was a 1962 graduate of Knoch High School, where she was a cheerleader. She and a 1963 graduate of Pittsburgh Beauty Academy.

Mrs. Duster was a homemaker and worked at the former North Hills Kaufmann's for years and the former Hornes in Harrison Township, always in the cosmetics field. Early in her career, she traveled to Ohio, New York and elsewhere in Pennsylvania as a representative for the Ogilvie Co.

She was a member and a former deacon of the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church and was devoted to her faith.

She loved her family and friends and enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Myrtle Beach, Hawaii and St. Martin. She was especially devoted to her mother, whom she helped take care of to the very end.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, J. Rodney Duster; daughters, Merily P. (Dr. Dan) Pompa of Cranberry Township and Robin L. Duster (Adam Weber) of Pittsburgh; grandsons, Daniel J., Izik D. and Simon J., all of Cranberry Township; twin grandchildren, Dylan L. and Olivia N. Pompa of Cranberry Township; brothers, John S. Phillips of Tarentum, Robert M. (Patricia) Phillips of Valencia and Dean D. (Sylvia) Phillips of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Olivia J. Phillips, of Tarentum; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phillips Duster, who died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Duster Funeral Home</B>, 10th Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum. Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church with the Rev. R. Cameron Malcolm IV officiating.
