BUTLER TWP — Butler High School graduate Samantha Karns had 15 kills and seven blocks to lead the Butler County Community College women's volleyball team to a 30-26, 21-30, 30-25, 16-30, 15-12 victory over Potomac State (W.Va.) University Monday.
Haley McFeaters (Moniteau) added five aces and Crystal Kemery had 22 digs for the Pioneers (4-3), who will return to action on Wednesday.
FREEPORT — Jeff Christy, who broke nine Freeport HighSchool football records and went on to star in the NFL, will have his high school uniform No. 40 retired prior to the Yellowjackets' game with Northgate Friday night.Christy, a 1987 graduate of the school, started all four years at fullback, linebacker and kicker for the Yellowjackets.He rushed for 2,842 yards in his career and also scored 45 touchdowns.On defense, he recorded 340 tackles and also holds the record for the longest field goal in school history at 43 yards.

VERONA— John Aubrey, a Butler resident and owner of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course, finished fifth at the 2007 March of Dimes Golf Classic Invitational, Monday at Longue Vue Country Club.Aubrey ended with a two-over 72, five strokes behind Roy Vucinich and Scott Davis, who both had a 67.Vucinich defeated Davis on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.
