BOSTON — Bill Wilson, 55, of Butler, recently completed the Boston Light 8-Mile Swim in 5 hours, 12 minutes and 36 seconds.
Wilson placed eighth among the 16 swimmers to finish the event. The water temperature was 63 degrees and swimmers faced 20 mph winds.
Wilson is scheduled to attempt a swim across the English Channel in September.
CHESTER, W.Va. — Butler heavyweights Brian Minto and Jim Emrick will be in action as part of the pro boxing card Thursday night at Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort.Minto (27-2, 16 KOs) faces Ray Lunsford (19-7, 7 KOs) of Coldwater, Miss., in an eight-round bout. Emrick makes his pro debut in a four-round bout against Mike Greenwalt of Boardman, Ohio.The main event is an IBClightweight championship fight between Verquan Kimbrough (17-1-1, 7 KOs) of Aliquippa, and Rodney "Pit Bull"Jones (27-6, 13 KOs) of Little Rock, Ark.Three other fights are on the card, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Grande Ballroom. Tickets are $100 platinum, $50 gold and $30 reserved and are available through Ticketmaster.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Monday night's game between the Slippery Rock Sliders and the Gateway (Ill.) Grizzlies was postponed by rain.The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader at 7:05 p.m. today.
