O'FALLON, Mo. — The Slippery Rock Sliders are returning home on a winning streak.
The Sliders (22-57) won consecutive road games here against the River City Rascals over the weekend, posting a 6-2 victory Saturday and a 9-2 triumph Sunday.
Saturday's game was delayed by rain for two hours, but not before the Sliders built a 3-0 lead in the first three innings. Starting pitcher John Bachman did not return to the mound after the delay and Jason Cline got the win in relief.
Cline (1-1) worked 3.1 innings. Casey Bowling, Anthony Albano and Bryan Vickers had two hits each for Slippery Rock.
Nick Tracy produced his best mound work of the season on Sunday for the Sliders, taking a 5-0 shutout into the eighth inning. Kevin Holley's solo home run and RBIsingles by Albano and Vickers highlighted a three-run fourth inning for the Sliders.
Tracy (2-11) lost his shutout bid in the eighth when Ryan Czyz belted a two-run homer for the Rascals (33-49). Tracy worked 7.1 innings, scattering six hits, striking out three and walking four.
Jesse Acosta paced the Sliders' attack Sunday with four hits in as many at bats and two runs scored. Albano added three hits and three RBI.
The Sliders face the Gateway Grizzlies in the first of a three-game series at 7:05 p.m. today at Critchfield Park.
The teams face each other at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night and close the series with a 12:05 p.m. game Wednesday.
