MONTREAL (AP) — Andy Roddick was bounced by third-seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia in a 7-6 (4), 6-4 loss while defending champion and top-seeded Roger Federer ousted Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Rogers Cup.

Nikolay Davydenko, playing with a stress fracture and in the shadow of scandal, lost to unseeded Radek Stepanek 6-4, 7-5.

It is Federer's 10th consecutive win over the former world No. 1 since 2004. Federer will play Radek Stepanek in the semifinals.

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Maria Sharapova dictated from the baseline and defeated defending champion Elena Dementieva 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the East West Bank Classic on Friday night.Sharapova, the top seed, avenged last year's straight-set semifinal loss to Dementieva in the tournament.
