Sliders split with Wash.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Sliders posted a three-run first inning en route to a 4-2 victory over the Washington Wild Things in the first game of a Frontier League doubleheader Monday.

In the nightcap, however, Washington rebounded with a 10-1 victory as both games went seven innings.

In the first game, Zac Cline improved his record to 6-5 while Jared Simon picked up his third save.

Washington's Tom Cochran saw his record fall to 6-6 as Washington (40-29) mustered just five hits in the game while the Sliders rapped out eight.

In Game 2, Washington's bats came to life with 11 hits to help make a winner of J.J. Hollenbeck. Judson Smith dropped to 1-4 with the loss.

The Sliders (18-51), who had just four hits and committed three errors in the nightcap, to open a two-day stand at Chillicothe, Ohio, today.
